Brycan's Wood

How vivid the green of the wet summer leaves seemed to Brycan as he walked the well worn path from the pasture.. In his arms he carried a newborn Unicorn Stallion.. Ahead through the gloom of the trees, sunlight gleamed, he cold hear the muted sounds of the brook as it purled over the rocks seeking its way through the mats of cress and trailing duckweed. He would find his older sister Petra there, gathering her plants in the huge rush basket for her medicines and potions. He prayed she could help heal the weak baby lying listless and barely breathing against his sturdy chest. He held it close, willing it to gather strength from his own solid heartbeat.
